Kohala

The Kohala tree produces high quality Medium to Large fruits with small seeds. Longans are massive trees that can be used for shade. Close relative to the lychee but hardier, larger and stronger with a brown peel fleshy fruit

Drought Tolerance/Watering: Dry season may assist in more flowering, but regular watering during new leaf development, flowering and fruiting is recommend for better harvest.
Soil & Site Requirements: Longan trees thrive on various soil types provided they are well drained. They do well on sandy loams, sand and calcareous, rocky soils of south Florida. Plant 25 ft. from other trees and structures.

Biew Kiew

This is the variety used in commericial production. Longans are similar to the Lychee but this variety is wind resistant, larger & more cold tolerant than its relative, making them better suited to warmer areas of Central Florida.
